Day Trip to Lake Louise/Morraine Lake – Wednesday, October 9, 2019
On this sightseeing tour you will have the option to visit two of the most famous lakes in Alberta - Lake Louise, also known as the “Jewel of the Canadian Rockies,” and Moraine Lake. Both of these incredible locations are designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Start by sitting back and relaxing with a guided bus tour, and listen to tales of the mountains and the early mountaineers who fell in love with this area in the 1890s.
Once you arrive at Lake Louise, feel free to wander the shoreline and see the Victoria Glacier, have tea at the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel, or rent a canoe and experience the emerald green waters first-hand (weather permitting, rentals are available until mid-October).
Next, jump back on the bus for a short trip to Moraine Lake, a glacier-fed body of water set in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The Rockpile Trail offers an easy and short path that takes you to the top of a natural dam. From there, you will be able to see the iconic mountain view that once graced the back of the Canadian 20 dollar bill.
Round trip transportation and a guided bus tour from the Banff Centre to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are provided (approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour each way).
Departure from Banff to Lake Louise at 2:00 pm. Departure from Moraine Lake and Lake Louise to Banff at 5:35 and 6:00 pm respectively.
Food/beverages and canoe rentals are extra.
Please remember to treat the landscape and wildlife with respect. Stay on marked trails, avoid trampling vegetation, and always give wildlife plenty of space.
Attendees are encouraged to wear casual and comfortable attire - remember to wear your walking shoes and bring layers to prepare for unpredictable weather conditions.
